I recently had the opportunity to be on a call with Kevin O’Leary from Shark Tank, and one message stood out to me more than anything else: focus matters.
Kevin talked about the importance of staying focused and making your biggest decisions before 2 PM, while your mind is still fresh.
That resonated with me.
As an entrepreneur, it’s incredibly easy to get pulled in different directions. There are always new ideas, opportunities, and things competing for your attention. Sometimes the hardest part isn’t figuring out what you could do. It’s deciding what deserves your focus right now.
That’s something I’ve been thinking about a lot as my wife Tina and I continue building Maine Island Soap. I enjoy painting, making videos, reading, and pursuing other interests, but I’ve learned that having multiple interests doesn’t mean everything needs to compete for my attention at the same time.
Kevin’s advice was a good reminder to protect those hours when you’re at your best and use them for the decisions that matter most.
Focus on what matters. Make the important decisions while your mind is fresh. Then execute.
Simple advice, but sometimes the simple things are exactly what we need to hear.
